About Us

Pacific Grove Community High School (PGCHS) was established in 1971 and is the sole continuation high school in the Pacific Grove Unified School District. PGCHS seeks to provide an alternative educational option to students age 16 or older who reside in Pacific Grove, by providing credit acceleration, enabling students to recover credits, with a goal of graduating on time, or in the shortest amount of time possible for an individual student. We provide a robust academic program in a supportive learning environment focused on whole-student well-being and post-secondary transitions for all students.

At PGCHS students attend a daily seat-based program for three and a half hours a day Monday through Friday. Students are provided an extended learning opportunity after school two days a week.  We have an average teacher-to-student ratio of 1:8 and are a closed campus. Each student is paired with a mentor teacher who facilitates family outreach at a minimum of once every two weeks.

In addition to our academic program, our school offers robust mental health and wellness support for students with a focus on post-secondary success. Our team of support staff includes an academic counselor and a licensed mental health therapist. For students identified as special needs, students have a case manager and if qualified, a therapist. For students identified as English Learners, an ELL teacher.
